Foremen - The foreman is the person who is in charge on the jobsite. All decisions are made by or go thru the foreman. The project is described with a Work Order that explains what gets insulated with what, and lists the quantities from the estimators take off. The foreman coordinates with our customer to ensure that we stay on or ahead of schedule. He arranges delivery of the materials that are needed when they're needed and schedules the manpower with the Field Superintendent. The Foreman starts the day out by checking attendance and discussing any issues, like safety or production quotas. Then directing the workers to the correct areas to get done the work that's appropriate. The foreman does all the planning and scheduling on the project level. He works with the Field Superintendent, providing accurate, and up to date information, on the project status so that manpower needs are anticipated.

Foremen are motivated by bonuses, so efficiency and effectiveness are most important. Foremen will be at work early and stay late, making sure the workers are on time, well supplied and safe. Foremen are generally chosen from the top producing mechanics.

Insulation Mechanics -
Insulation Apprentices - An apprentice is a mechanic in training. Apprentices are chosen for showing promise as a mechanic, and are trained on a daily basis with specific instructions occurring on a regular basis, usually weekly. The apprentice buys the tools that are necessary for each new type of work he gets involved with so that before he is graduated to mechanic status, he has the complete set of insulators tools. Apprentices learn about the types of systems that require insulation and why. They learn about the way jobs are run and the proper sequences and methods of insulating systems. Apprentices spend most of their time with mechanics but are often left on their own once they have been checked out on particular disciplines. Apprentices will also learn how to use helpers, motivate others, coordinate with other trades, read blueprints, order materials, discover and handle changes, attend meetings and complete projects under budget. Once a satisfactory understanding of all of the above is demonstrated, the apprentice becomes a journeyman/mechanic.
